Easy to install
They contain everything you need for a brand new installation. The downlight fixtures require standard sized cutouts which are familiar to electricians. The GU10 Osram kits also do not require transformers which makes it even cheaper to install by reducing overall labour time.
Easy to replace
The GU10 lamp holder allows the GU10 Osram LED downlight to easily be pulled out from within the room space without having to get into the roof. If the LED downlight gets faulty, you do not need to call an electrician, you can just pop it out yourself from the holder and pop in a new one.
Standard components
The downlight fitting and GU10 lamp holder are standard sized components used in the lighting industry. You will find that older GU10 halogens and GU10 CFL’s make use of the exact same 50mm diameter fixture and GU10 lamp holders. This makes buying the Osram GU10 kit future proof since GU10 downlights are a standard and will always be available. This is one great advantage of buying a GU10 kit in comparison to complete integrated LED downlight kits.
5 Years Warranty
Not many companies will provide a 5 year warranty on their products, but Osram does this one! This shows the confidence they have in their Parathom Pro LED downlight range. Why buy other 10W LED downlight kits or something less powerful or unbranded when you can buy the 10W Osram kit for a similar price with 5 years of warranty?
GU10 LED downlights are 240V based and do not require a transformer to run. This makes the GU10 Osram LED Downlight kit a very affordable product as you don’t have to buy any transformers or pay for labour costs in installing transformers. The other great advantage of not having transformers is that there is one less part that will fail over time. If there are any issues with the Osram LED downlights, just pop them out and put in a new one all by your self without the need for an electrician.
The 3000K warm white Osram LED light colour is designed to provide the same effect as a yellow halogen downlight. The 3000K warm whites provide a pleasant feeling and are suitable for living rooms, kitchens, restaurants, home theatres, bathrooms, lobbies etc where a relaxed environment is required
The 6500K daylight Osram LED light colour is designed to provide the same effect as a white fluorescent tube. The 6500K daylights are more suited towards commercial environments such as offices, modern lobbies, office hallways, meeting rooms etc. However the 6500K daylight look is slowly starting to pickup in the modern home environment where glass & steel furniture is used.
6500K light is brighter than 3000K light hence the overall brightness or lumen rating of a room will be higher with the 6500K Osram LED downlights.
Yes this Osram LED Dowlight is a dimmable downlight and can be dimmed using Clipsal 32E450TM (Trailing Edge Dimmer) and most other good quality trailing and universal dimmers. However for best performance, longevity and smooth dimming, we recommend the Clipsal 32E450TM (Trailing Edge Dimmer) as they are specially designed to be used with the small loads required by LED’s. You can run multiple Osram LED downlights in a single circuit with one dimmer and light switch.
Yes, the 10W Osram Parathom box mentions this lamp is 50W equivalent. The intensity of light on the floor between the 10W Osram LED and a standard halogen downlight is very similar thus making ita perfect LED downlight for replacing old 50W halogens. We have had plenty of customers who have removed their old 12V halogen kits and replaced them with the 10W Osram LED downlights using the same cutouts and quantities.
Below is a rough guide on the number of downlight kits you will require based on the room size.
2 meters x 3 meters – 2 kits
3 meters x 3 meters – 4 kits
3 meters x 4 meters – 4 kits or 5 kits with 1 in the middle
4 meters x 4 meters – 6 kits or 5 kits with 1 in the middle
4 meters x 5 meters – 6 kits
5 meters x 5 meters – 9 kits
When using LED downlights in corridors and over kitchen benchtops, it is ideal to get the spacing right. Below is a rough guide on the spacing required:
Corridors – 1.5 meters to 2 meters
Kitchen benchtops – 1 meter to 1.5 meters
Even though this LED has only a 36 degree beam angle, it has a well designed lens that allows light to spread very evenly. We have had plenty of customers who are more than satisfied with the beam spread of this product. We have yet to have someone who has said the beam is too narrow. If you compare this 36 degree LED downlight to other brands of 60 degree LED downlights, you will find the beam spread almost similar.
Yes it is a requirement under the Australian rules, that all 240V electrical equipment is to be installed by a qualified electrician. There a various rules to be followed, such as spacing between downlights and insulation materials or roof beams. A qualified electrician will ensure your downlights are installed correctly to maximise your safety and avoid unnecessary issues with insurance companies as a result of any damage.

I highly recommend this led downlight set to anyone who wants to put new downlights in their home. Pretty much same light output to my friends halogens. The led downlight fits well in the kit. A++
